On July 27-31, 2022, the Joint Meeting of Ichthyologist and Herpetologists was organized in Spokane, Washington State, USA. Thanks to the Clark Hubbs’ Student Travel Award, I had the opportunity to attend this conference. I gave an oral presentation about our research into the origin of the slow worm in Ireland. Last year, this research was funded by a Gaige Award. In the present study, we aim to use novel sequences of slow worms from Ireland (ND2 gene mitochondrial DNA) to determine the genetic affiliation of the Irish population and compare data with known haplotypes from Europe (abstract here). Studies were presented not only from the USA, but also from different parts of the world.
